Someone she least expects will ask Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) out for a date in the upcoming episode of the hit Freeform series "The Fosters."

In "Under Water," CarterMatt reports that Nick (Louis Hunter) will surprise Marianna by his sudden suggestion that they date. As her twin brother's closest friend, she has always considered Nick cool, but out of reach. Now that he has shown interest in her as a woman, how will she react? Will she accept the invitation? But what about Mat (Jordan Rodrigues), who appears to still be in love with her all this time?

In the promo, the former lovers are about to share a sweet kiss. After the break up, they have remained friends, but there is still that inexplicable distance between them. After all, Mat is Brandon's (David Lambert) buddy. A scene at the latter part of the clip, however, shows the pair in a tense situation, with Marianna walking out on Mat. Will "Matiana" fans see a reunion or will she choose to hook up with Nick?

Meanwhile, Marianna's twin brother Jesus (Jake T. Austin) has still not told Gabe (Brandon Quinn) that he is Emma's (Amanda Leighton) ex-boyfriend. At work, he acts as if he does not know the Latino, and Gabe also has no idea he once dated his current girlfriend. Obviously, Jesus is still hung up on Emma, even after seeing that she is happy in her new relationship. Nick is advising his friend to tell the truth, but Jesus is having second thoughts.

Elsewhere, siblings Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Jude (Hayden Byerly) will make sure that Jack (Tanner Buchanan) will get all the help he needs. They found out last episode that other boys in his foster home are abusing him. Callie will ask Justina (special guest star Kelli Williams), a foster care advocate, to work on Jack.

"The Fosters" season 3 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EST on Freeform (formerly ABC Family).
