A sultry assassin will return to create problems for Liz (Megan Boone) and Tom (Ryan Eggold) when the hit NBC series "The Blacklist" returns for the second half of season 3.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Gina Zanetakos (Margarita Levieva), Tom's ex-lover, will reprise her role in the action-drama. The blacklister is reportedly last seen back in season 1, when Liz first discovered that her husband was a spy. She found out Tom's many passports cleverly concealed in one of the loose floorboards in their house. It was Red (James Spader) who told her about Gina and her encounter with the FBI.

According to him, Gina was the only one that the Bureau did not kill among the blacklisters in their custody. The feds let her go after she promised to give classified information on an important case. Gina was reportedly deep into corporate espionage and extremism. Tom met her in one of his works as an infiltrator and they quickly had an affair.

When Gina returns in an episode slated to air in February 2016, viewers can expect tension to rise between her and her former flame. She may prove to be the distraction that Tom does not need in his quest to save Liz. During the winter finale, Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and the FBI successfully captured Liz in one of their entrapment operations against the fugitive.

Liz and Red got separated when the latter was abducted by a ragtag group of highway kidnappers. When the authorities finally tracked her down, Liz was no match for their brute force. The action-filled chase in the woods was very short, as it culminated with Ressler putting the cuffs on her. Teasers for season 3B show Liz trapped in a glass cage, where Red was formerly imprisoned.

The Blacklist season 3 will return on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
