Red (James Spader) may be on the run, but he still has not forgotten his mission to help Liz (Megan Boone) in the upcoming episode of the NBC series "The Blacklist."
In "The Director: Part 1," Spoiler TV reports that the fugitive has not given up on his "special package" that he needs to take down the Cabal. Last episode, the FBI managed to apprehend Liz and Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq). They also got Red's mysterious parcel. To retrieve it, Red will make a play to entice the authorities to part with it. He will reportedly create a crime scene, which will give him the opening he needs to snatch it away. Will he succeed?
Meanwhile, the synopsis reveals that Liz will get support from "friends of truth" who still believe she is innocent from the crime. Now that she is in custody of the FBI, she is in great danger. With Red on the lam, she has no reason to believe anyone will still help her. Samar (Mozhan Marno) has done her best, but Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) has already sent her away after learning of her betrayal. Is this the leverage that Liz needs to escape her sentence?
Last episode, she and Red became separated when the latter was kidnapped by a group of highway bandits. To find him, Liz was forced to call Samar, who was then staying with Ressler. Even though she promised she would not tell him Red's location, the FBI agent smelled a rat and had Aram (Amir Arison) check on his computer to learn the truth. This led to the capture of Liz. Fortunately for Red, he managed to get away.
Elsewhere, Tom (Ryan Eggold) has Karakurt (Andrew Divoff) and together with Cooper (Harry Lennix) and his wife, they were heading to a secluded cabin to hide from the Cabal. Solomon (Edi Gathegi) and his men were still hot on their trail, however, and they wonder how he learned of their location. Tom solved the problem by cutting out a tracking device from Karakurt's leg.
"The Blacklist" season 3 episode 9 will air on Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
