Sheldon (Jim Parsons) will attempt to forget his heartache over Amy (Mayim Bialik) in the upcoming episode of the NBC series "The Big Bang Theory."

In "The Mystery Date Observation," Cartermatt reports that after seeing his ex-girlfriend kissing another man, Sheldon will decide to move on with his life and date again. Last episode, viewers saw him got emotional after Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) discovered the engagement ring he had for Am. When he did an interview for a documentary about his hero and "Star Trek" star Leonard Nimoy, the scientist resolved that he would once again propose to Amy. But when he got into her apartment, he saw her kissing her new boyfriend.

The synopsis reveals that Sheldon is taking the rejection in stride. Deep inside, however, he is a seething mass of pain. Sheldon will reportedly take the failed proposal as a sign to get back out on the dating scene. He will even recruit Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg) to find a new girlfriend for him, since they were responsible for getting Amy and him together. He will be capitalizing on his "soulful eyes of a cow," to attract women.

Meanwhile, Leonard, Penny, and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) will spy on Amy while she is out on a date with her new man. When the three learn of the dinner date with Dave (guest star Stephen Merchant), the man Sheldon saw Amy kissing, they will decide to tag along, perhaps to get information about their friend's competition. Will Sheldon finally learn something about the mysterious Dave? While the show has been feeding the viewers scraps about him, he still remains a mystery. This first date will determine if he and Amy will get along well.

"The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
