'The Big Bang Theory' season 10 news, episode 9 spoilers: spin-off in the pipeline? Colleague's award makes Sheldon jealous

With Raj (Kunal Nayyar) keeping his dating life under wraps for fear that his friends will  judge his new girl because of her job, it is speculated that the revelation will lead to a lot of complications and hilarity for "The Big Bang Theory" season 10.

Meanwhile, in the upcoming ninth episode of the show — entitled "The Geology Elevation" — Sheldon (Jim Parsons) will once again be jealous of something that a co-worker has worked on for a long time.

"A geologist coworker's MacArthur Genius fellowship award leaves Sheldon stone cold jealous. Meanwhile, Howard stumbles upon a remote-control Stephen Hawking action figure that he invented. Hawking appears as himself," the synopsis read.

While contract negotiations are under way, rumors are rife the show may be nearing the final season of the successful comedy series. It has been reported that actress Kaley Cuoco (who portrays Penny) has been bargaining for a higher salary, but there have been no official confirmation from Cuoco or CBS representatives.

Along with reports of cancellation is also speculation that CBS may be developing a spin off series based on the younger years of Sheldon Cooper. 

In a recent interview with Nayyar, he admitted that he is not privy to the fate of the show beyond season 10.

"I think we are due to re-up for season 10. After that, who knows? I hope to continue, but it's not entirely up to me. Even if we do season 11 or 12, it's a very odd sensation this year. We are all feeling quite nostalgic. We're so close. We have each other's back. We keep it private on set and really love each other. It's going to be very hard to adjust to going back to what is normal, since this is my normal, if that makes sense," he said.

Meanwhile, Christopher Lloyd is set to guest star for the Dec. 1 episode of the show but his role in the episode remains a surprise for the show's fans as of now, Variety reported.
