Tesla Model S P100D news: Easter egg coming with new software update

It is not only in video games that Easter eggs can be found. There will also be one on a Tesla Model S P100D soon. The so-called hidden surprise will allow the all-electric vehicle to run much quicker on a quarter mile run and 0–60 mph.

According to a recent post by Elon Musk on Twitter, a software upgrade will arrive in December. He also mentioned that an Easter egg would be included in the update, and those who are lucky enough to find it will have a nice surprise.

Musk said, "Looks like the Model S P100D Easter egg will allow it to do 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 sec and a 10.6 sec 1/4 mile via software update next month."

The $135,000 electric vehicle has already established its marks. Aside from reaching up to 300 miles on a single charge, is the considered to be the fastest accelerating 4-door production car. It can reach 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds when using the Ludicrous Mode, Yibada reported.

The Tesla Model S P100D is not the only model that will receive the update. "All P100D vehicles produced to date, as well as new. This is purely a software optimization," Musk said in another tweet, which was a reply to a question from a P90D owner.

This is not the first time that Tesla offered an Easter egg. Previously, when a car owner punches in "007" on the car's service console, the car display will use a Lotus submariner car instead of the normal one. It was based on "The Spy Who Loved Me" James Bond movie. Then there is also the Space Ball animated graphics being displayed on its 17-inch touchscreen, as well as the "psychedelic cowbell road" and several more. However, this will be the first time that one needs to figure out how to unlock it first before using it.

Once the update has arrived and owners have figured out how to unlock the upcoming Easter egg, car fans can expect several videos featuring the 0.1 seconds difference on their Tesla's.
