'Tekken 7' release date news: Confirmed for PS4, Xbox One and PC; Cross-platform gaming possible as long as console makers agree

"Tekken 7" is rumored to have a cross-platform feature for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Furthermore, depending on the game's success, it's possible for its developers to make a crossover game between "Tekken" and "Street Fighter" sometime in the future.

According to Yibada, Bandai Namco's E3 2016 appearance showcased a new story trailer for the upcoming "Tekken 7" game for the PC as well as an early 2017 release for all gaming platforms. That isn't the most interesting part, however.

Behind the scenes, an interview with Katsuhiro Harada hinted at a possible cross-platform gaming for "Tekken 7," according to The Bitbag. His answers, while vague, pointed out that making this feature possible isn't that hard and is already being considered. Despite this, they need to discuss this with their game developer regarding some steps they need to consider before arriving at a decision.

The primary reason why cross-platform gaming hasn't happened for "Tekken 7" just yet is because they still need to ensure that both Sony and Microsoft should be willing to cooperate and let it happen. Microsoft has shown interest, but the lack of any response from Sony might be an indication that the competition between these two companies needs to cool down first.

Another reason is that the PC version of "Tekken 7" is already in development. The reason for this is that it's much easier for cheaters to create and exploit loopholes that could destroy the gameplay experience for players. As such, it really depends on the gaming community if they ever want to have a cross-platform gaming feature between PCs and consoles.

In any case, according to Game N Guide, "Tekken 7" will be the first-ever game in the franchise to make a debut on the PC, using the Unreal Engine 4 just like its arcade counterpart. As for Xbox Live Gold members, they'll get "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" as a bonus when they buy this game.
