In "Maid of Gevaudan," TV.com reports that the pack will be horrified to learn that their Alpha has decided to fight the Beast by himself. As the most ferocious, most famous werewolf in history, the Beast of Gevaudan inspires terror and fear from both the humans and the supernatural. For centuries, a huge number of hunters have chased it, from armies and royal huntsmen, to civilians. No one was able to kill it because of its sheer power and strength.

In Beacon Hill, the Beast is the single creature that the wolves and the chimeras fear above all. It does not acknowledge alliances, but prefers to operate on its own. Its identity still remains a mystery. The pack knows it lives in the Eichen House and it is definitely human, but other than that, nothing else is known about it. If Scott takes it on single handedly, there is no guarantee that he will come out of the fight alive. Will the season end with his wolf brothers grieving over his casket?

Meanwhile, the Argents, the famed werewolf hunter family, will reportedly share vital information about the Beast. According to Wikia, the only known person to wound the creature was Marie-Jeanne Valet, France's version of Joan of Arc. She and her sister were attacked while crossing the River Desges, but Marie-Jeanne managed to fend off the Beast. All she had was a staff with a bayonet mounted at the end.

In the story, Allison (Crystal Reed), a member of the Argent family, is portrayed as a direct descendant of Marie-Jeanne. She may be the one being pertained to in the episode title "Maid of Gevaudan." If that is the case, Allison may be the key to defeating the abomination. Is she the salvation that they are all waiting for?

"Teen Wolf" season 5 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
