'Teen Wolf' season 5B spoilers: Episode 9 to be centered on Kira

Kira was noticeably missing in action in "Teen Wolf" season 5. She was nowhere to be seen in the midseason finale even though her boyfriend Scott met his demise and had risen again in the said episode. But that will change when the hit MTV series returns.

Fans last saw the kitsune played by Arden Cho storming out of California with her parents after discovering that she had been one of the Dread Doctors' guinea pigs. She promised Scott that she would work on controlling the fox inside her but didn't tell him where she was headed.

Kira will make a big comeback in season 5B. An episode centered on her and her mom Noshiko is being developed, and showrunner Jeff Davis explained more of this upcoming installment in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"We have a really big episode which is all about Kira and Noshiko going off on their own story to try to figure out how to tame the fox spirit within her," Davis said. "And it takes place actually in the desert in New Mexico where they have to journey."

The episode in question is the one after the midseason premiere, and Davis told The Hollywood Reporter that "it's pretty fun" and "ambitious" as it will not only show Kira's struggle to take control of her fox but also the "tougher parts of her relationship with her own mother."

As for the return of other characters such as Chimera and Agent McCall, there seems to be no confirmation yet. Jordan Fisher, who plays the former, recently tweeted a photo of himself together with "Teen Wolf" stars Tyler Posey and Shelley Hennig, which could be a hint that Chimera will be back.

Agent McCall's return is also up in the air but star Melissa Ponzio who plays the role of the FBI agent's daughter said that there are more stories to tell through the eyes of Agent McCall.

"Teen Wolf" season 5 returns January.
