Valve has finally released a Halloween-themed event update for the shooter game "Team Fortress 2" which features a new crate as well as two new taunts, three new community maps, and a bit of a boost to the odds of unboxing. This is despite the fact that the recent reports say that the company will not be releasing a new event.

According to the Game Rant, despite the previous reports, Valve is not entirely ignoring Halloween. As such, the "Team Fortress 2" game now features some new items, taunts, and maps to celebrate the holiday.

The Halloween update is called "Scream Fortress VIII" and like its prior installments, players are able to get access to all of the Halloween-themed additions and events released in the past. For example, players will be able to face off against a Horseless Headless Horseman while casting magic spells.

However, as for new and exciting content, the event brings two new taunts as well as three Halloween-themed maps made by the game's community, as well as a crate that contains 21 new cosmetic items and as one that gives an unusually new effect to any taunt.

Also, Valve has doubled the chances of unboxing unusual cosmetic items from any crate, and the ones opened during the duration of the event will feature the Halloween unusual effect applied.

Gameranx reports that the new maps will be called Brimstone, Pit of Death, and Maple Ridge Event.

As for the two new taunts, the first one is called the Victory Lap, a Valve-created taunt allowing the player to cruise around a Merasmus bumper car introduced back in the 2014 Halloween event. As for the second, it is called Second Rate Sorcery, which gives unique taunt effects for each class in an attempt to cast magic and ultimately failing horribly.

The "Scream Fortress VIII" event will end after Nov. 9.
