Moto X, G, and E from T-Mobile are the first devices from third party manufacturers that receives the latest 4.4.3 version of Android Kitkat OS.
According to Motorola, all three devices will have a new Phone app and a number of general improvements to consistency, usability, stability, and security. The Android 4.4.3Kitkat OS improved the image quality as well as the ability to pause video while recording. Users will also get a new dialer app and support for Motorola Alert, an app that was previously an exclusive to the Moto E.
Other changes that the 4.4.3 version of the Kitkat OS update will bring are improved camera image quality for Moto X including better consistency of exposure, more realistic flash coloring, and improved photos in low light conditions using front camera.
For the Moto X and Moto G, users can now pause the video recording with a convenient pause/resume button on the viewfinder. The handsets will also receive Motorola Alert, which is a new app that was previously exclusive to Moto E and allows users to send timed or periodic emails to the contacts.
The reason why Motorola devices receive the update early is because the unlocked version of T-Mobile's Moto X is controlled by Motorola. Unfortunately, this does not apply to units from other carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. However, the update will arrive to devices in phases. Users may check their devices for the update or upgrade their handsets manually.
The third and final update of the Kitkat version of Android OS finally showed up ahead of Google's I/O Conference that will kick off on June 25. The update is now available to Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (both WiFi and LTE), Nexus 7 2013, Nexus 10, Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus S. Moreover, the OS upgrade is also available to Google Play Edition devices. Third party manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and Sony will follow suit.
