'Supernatural' season 12 spoilers: Winchesters try to prevent Nazi necromancers from bringing back Hitler

The Winchesters Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have been on the air for the past 11 years and one thing The CW has managed to establish in the long running fantasy horror show is that death is not a guarantee that characters won't return to the show in one form or another.

As a matter of fact, Sam and Dean have literally been to hell and back in previous seasons and most recently, their mother Mary (Samantha Smith) — who was already dead at the beginning of the show — was revived last season. Now, it seems that Mary would not be the end of the line for writers to bring back fan favorite characters.

Jensen Ackles himself confirmed that loyal fans of the show should watch out for more familiar faces to return to the show.

"When you have a really good character, and not just that but a really good talented person playing that character, getting them to come back is always a treat for us, and I feel like it's a nice little treat for you guys, as well. I will say there are plans this season to bring back a few of those, so stay tuned," he teased.

Among the characters that fans have speculated to return is the Winchester patriarch himself — John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) — who famously made the first deal with the yellow-eyed demon Azazel (Christopher B. MacCabe) to spare Dean's life in exchange for the Colt and his own life.

However, with Morgan safely cast as "The Walking Dead's" nefarious main villain Negan, it could be a long shot no matter how sentimental the role is to "Supernatural" fans.

Last season, fan favorite character Bobby (Jim Beaver) and Rufus (Steven Williams) were featured in a throwback episode to a case they worked on in season 5. The prophet Chuck (Rob Benedict) also returned after several seasons beneath the radar only to reveal that he is, in fact, God.

"I think one of the great things that the showrunners and the writers have done over the years is that they have brought back some of these fan-favorite characters. And some of our favorite characters. We are the faces of the show, but we're also fans of the show," Ackles added.

Meanwhile, before more fan favorite characters rise from the dead, the brothers will have their hands full with a group of Nazi necromancers who want to bring back Hitler from the dead using an antique pocket watch, reported Spoiler TV.

Episode 5 — entitled "The One You've Been Waiting For" — airs on Nov. 10, 9:00 p.m. EST on The CW.
