"Super Mario Odyssey" had been released for the Nintendo Switch last Oct. 27. Since its release, it has become the fastest-selling Mario game.

The latest installment of the "Super Mario" game series still stars the Italian plumber off to rescue once Princess Peach once more from the hands of Bowser. What is new this time is that Mario is accompanied by a new character called Cappy. He is a creature from the Land of Hats and will be Mario's default hat for the game. This new character can be thrown to certain objects. Cappy can also possess enemies and use their abilities to help Mario.

"Super Mario Odyssey" emphasizes on exploring the new 3D style world. The story this time is about Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach and forcing her to marry him which will ultimately lead for the big baddie to rule the Mushroom Kingdom.

Like the games from old releases, Mario will be travelling worlds to save the princess. During Mario's journey, he will be collecting Power Moons. Instead of levels separating each world, Power Moons correspond to the stage levels. Mario can also use Cappy to solve puzzles. Other abilities that Cappy possess include Mario flying over a gap, capturing a flying enemy and going on a rampaging run by capturing a T-Rex.

Gamers who have been playing Mario games since its cartridge days will find it a bit jarring when they see that lives are no longer implemented for the new game. Instead, 10 coins will be taken off Mario when he bumps into an enemy monster or falls off a platform. Losing coins will also mean a restart from a nearby spot on the stage. Despite the many changes, the game has been the fastest-selling game to date, which Nintendo of America had boasted about on their official Twitter page.

There are also sections in the game with 2D rendering as a form of homage to the previous title releases. This game feature will remind players of the gameplay from "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds."
