'Street Fighter V' DLC release date news, latest updates: DLC character is Akuma; new stage 'Skies of Honor' is paid DLC

Akuma as teased in the Street Fighter V trailer Capcom

While a lot of "Street Fighter V" players have been enjoying the game so far, most of them feel like there is still something missing from the latest entry in the hit fighting game franchise. However, it seems that the void they are experiencing will soon be filled.

After all, one of the most iconic villains in the series — Akuma — will make a comeback in the next downloadable content (DLC) update from Capcom.

According to Game N Guide, Akuma's reveal was thanks to a special teaser trailer released right after the Red Bull Battlegrounds finals. As fans can remember, the event is one of the biggest "Street Fighter V" tournaments around, and as such it is a fitting venue to unveil the new DLC character. Furthermore, reports say that aside from Akuma, a new stage will also be released: a completely destroyed dojo which was included in the reveal video.

For those excited to know what Akuma can bring to the fight, it is revealed that his special move will be his classic Shun Goku Satsu, which can be seen in the trailer as well.

However, the depiction of the character is quite subtle, since the screen fades into black while a red eye moves around as the sound of Akuma's assault against an opponent is heard in the background. By the end of the special move, he will strike his iconic pose — Akuma stands up straight but only his back is visible — while the Japanese kanji on his back flares up. The set of Kanji characters mean "Godlike," which some believe refer to his even stronger powers.

Meanwhile, according to WCCF Tech, nothing much is known about the character just yet. However, within a month, players will be able to gather enough data about him as he will be made playable for the 2016 PlayStation Experience event, which will take place on Dec. 3 and 4 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Also, players who want to unlock a new stage called "Skies of Honor" can now purchase the stage using 70,000 Fight Money, or approximately $4.
