Sony is rumored to be working on its next flagship phone, the Xperia XR. It is speculated to be unveiled at the upcoming IFA 2016 happening in Berlin from Sept. 2 to 7. The phone is said to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 23MP main camera.

The Sony Xperia XR is believed to be sporting a 5.1 inch display screen with a 1080 x 1920p resolution. It is also believed to be taller and wider than the Xperia X Performance but will be slightly thinner. It will also be featuring a USB Type C port, which will be the first for the Japanese firm. With this information, it is safe to say that it will be able to charge and transfer files faster, Trusted Reviews reported.

Other reports mentioned that the phone will arrive with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and most probably be upgradable to Android 7.0 Nougat. Its front camera is rumored to contain a 13MP sensor, while the main will arrive with a dual-flash system.

PC Advisor added a render was shared by @OnLeaks, a respected leakster, which shows that the Sony Xperia XR will have its fingerprint sensor incorporated on its power button.

Last year, Sony launched several Z series phones during the same event, which include the Xperia Z5 Premium, Z5, and Z5 Compact, while the X series was unveiled during MWC 2016 in Barcelona that happened last February. A possible scenario for this year is the Xperia XR will be unveiled at IFA 2016, while it will only be made available by early 2017, the report added.

The phone may be within the price range of US$400 to US$500.

Sony has not confirmed anything related to the Xperia XR.
