"Sleepy Hollow" will begin shooting its fourth season in July, but the final release date for this series still depends on Tom Mison and the returning cast.

Mison, who plays the iconic character Ichabod Crane, has already spoken about the loss of one of the key members of the show, Abbie Mills (played by Nicole Beharie). In an article from Parent Herald, Mison highlighted the importance of Beharie's character to the show, most especially because she is African-American.

Fans who watched the finale of the last season were outraged by the death of this character. As such, aside from Beharie, Nikki Reed and Zach Appelman won't be returning for the fourth season of "Sleepy Hollow." The intensity of fan reaction against Mills's death is unlike any other. While this event made one of the strongest finales in any series, some viewers feel that the treatment and eventual death of Abbie Mills is a testament to the so-called "color issue."

A lot of fans point out that people of color often die in most series, and some of them are protesting that this trend is racist to say the least. As such, there are even fans who threatened to boycott the fourth season of "Sleepy Hollow." In any case, Mison relates that the show's writers have enjoyed Abbie Mills's development throughout the series, according to an interview posted on YouTube. He also shared that, regardless of Beharie's exit, he will still continue being friends with her, and that he's fully sympathetic with the prevalent fan sentiment.

Nevertheless, Mison said that "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 is being prepared for production. With this, fans can expect that the newest season will certainly show parts where Ichabod will have to deal with the death of Abbie Mills, as well as few other consequences stemming from this event.
