'Sherlock' season 4 spoilers: Toby Jones to play new villain

This year's new season of Sherlock brings with it a few new interesting names cast for major villainous roles. The new enemy, according to Econotimes, was teased by co-creator Steven Moffat to be played by Toby Jones, who was nominated for a Golden Globe award for his role as Hitchcock in "The Girl."

Fellow co-creator Mark Gatiss also welcomed Jones, who, meanwhile, said that he will "embrace the part with relish". CrossMap reported that in an interview, the said actor said he is "excited and intrigued" by the role. He will start appearing in the series in episode 2 of the fourth season.

In this new season, Sherlock might be meeting a lot of old and new faces. Rumors suggest that the character Jones is portraying might be someone with Moriarty. Other suggestions include Brigham Young, Colonel Sebastian Moran and John Clay, none of whom have made an appearance in the TV series. They are all notable Doyle villains in their own right, so it is understandable if Jones is to play one of these speculated antagonists.

Another rumor, reports Parent Herald, is that the beloved Marvel and internet icon Tom Hiddleston will be joiing the cast as the third Holmes brother, Sherrinford Holmes. Hiddleston fans are very excited to finally see the actor onscreen alongside Benedict Cumberbatch. Yibada said that these rumors arrived after Gatiss mentioned how he was "glad to see Hiddleston in the series".

Other rumors speculate that production might be moved to Marrakesh, Morocco after they wrapped up filming in Cardiff. The premiere date for this new season has yet to be announced, but it will most probably be out by the first half of 2017.
