Mellie (Bellamy Young) is going to prove she is not one to mess with in the upcoming episode of the hit ABC series "Scandal."

In "Baby, It's Cold Outside," CarterMatt reports that the former first lady will demonstrate a show of power. Last episode, she got her revenge when Olivia (Kerry Washington) was apprehended for abetting a criminal to escape from prison. Mellie told Liv earlier that she would tell Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) what his mistress has done to free her father. Liv made a deal with Rowan (Joe Morton) to pressure the judiciary committee hearing Fitz's impeachment to drop the case. In exchange, he would be given back his freedom.

Unfortunately, Liv needed Mellie's help to accomplish the deed. In doing so, she gave the latter an ace in the hole. Mellie had Liv by the neck and they both knew it. Last episode, Liv's betrayal finally reached Fitz and she was sent to prison. Unfortunately for Mellie, Fitz turned things around by forgiving Liz and sending her right there and then to the White House. Now, the mistress is doing first lady duties for the President. Mellie must be furious and viewers can be sure she will not be taking that lying down. What is her next plan?

Also in episode 9, the hunt for Rowan is still on for Jake (Scott Foley) and Huck (Guillermo Diaz). Previously, the two expressed disappointment over Liv's choices, especially after learning that she was the reason why Rowan was freed from his incarceration. Jake told Liv that she should not expect help coming from him in the future. Liv was mystified, however, when Rowan told her he was not the devil she thought he was. Her father told her that someone else's "finger is on the button," a far more dangerous foe. But when she asked Huck about Lazarus One, the latter denied he knew anything about it.

In the promo released by ABC, Huck's flippant answer will finally be explained. Rowan is seen to be at someone else's mercy and when the cameras panned out, viewers see his assailant's face. It is Huck and he looks ready to kill. What other revelations will the winter finale show next?

"Scandal" season 5 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
