'Scandal' season 5 spoilers: Mellie sets out to 'destroy' Liv in episode 3 'Paris is Burning'

The upcoming episode of "Scandal" season 5 follows the cost of Olivia's admission to the public of being the president's mistress. Her confession had the media swirling, and in this week's episode, the result of Olivia's revelation will be fully felt and in turn produce a whole new set of problems.

Mellie was fuming as she thought of how much damage this could inflict on her. In a teaser for this week's episode titled "Paris Is Burning," she declares an ominous warning: "I want to destroy Olivia Pope."

In order to do so, she enlists the help of Fitz's former Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene, who was surprisingly ecstatic being on board. In a preview for the "Scandal" season 5 episode, Fitz and Mellie act like a happy couple in their first interview after the mistress revelation.

The White House is in panic as they go about the interview but no one is more distraught than Abby, who rushes to the scene (she even takes off her heels just to get there on time) to stop the talk by having a team of Secret Service storm into the room.

As teased in the synopsis for the installment, Abby aims to show Liv that "she is fully capable of handling working at the White House" and as how fans see it, she is also working for Team Olitz.

Meanwhile, in a teaser for "Scandal" season 5 episode 3, Jake declares how Olivia's effort to stand up for herself could mean the end of their team. The clip also shows Liv in tears as she speaks to someone over the phone saying, "I think I made a mistake."

But of course, everything has been said and done. The future is yet again blurry for Fitz and Olivia's romance, especially with Mellie hell-bent on revenge.

"Scandal" season 5 episode 3 Paris is Burning" airs on ABC on Oct. 8 at 9 p.m.
