Although confirmed details are still scarce about South Korea tech giant Samsung's next smartphone iteration, it has already surfaced that the upcoming Galaxy S7 flagship will use a homegrown processor, and the speed and performance features of the new chipset will be one of the main selling points of the next-gen phone.
It seems that Samsung is already on its way towards delivering on its promise, as reports of the new Exynos 8890's supposed benchmark scores surfaced online.
According to WCCFTech, if the rumored leaked benchmark scores of the new Exynoss 8890 chipset would be proven true, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be an amazing flagship, in terms of performance and speed. The report mentioned that when the unit, with model number SM-G9300 (assumed to be the Galaxy S7) with the Exynos 8890 was tested, it gave a benchmark score of 103,692, which makes the device lead current-gen flagships.
Although the details are unconfirmed, the chipset undergoing stress tests around this time of the year seems to dovetail with reports that Samsung has already been assembling the Exynos 8890 chipset. Gadgets360 by NDTV said that Samsung already launched the Exynos 8890 earlier last month, and Samsung will be mass-producing the processor to power their Galaxy S7 iteration.
The Exynos 8890 will be one of the three processors rumored to be running three Galaxy S7 variants, the other two being a lower-level Exynos chipset, and the newer Snapdragon 820 SoC.
Aside from powerful processors, the Galaxy S7 is rumored to also house some additional features which would make the new flagship the talk of the town when it releases. The Galaxy S7 will apparently feature a 5.2-inch display integrated with Samsung's own take on 3D Touch tech and will have an updated, slimmer body design because of new camera technology.
