Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date specs: more specs leaked ahead of Aug 2 launch

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has been confirmed to arrive at the next Unpacked event that will be held on Aug. 2. Officially, nothing is known with regards to the technical specifications of the upcoming phone, but unofficially, there have been a lot of leaks.

Samsung officially announced the arrival of its Galaxy Note 7 via Twitter. The press release mentioned that the "added functionality and large screen" will make the upcoming phone a very powerful tool. It also mentioned the reason behind the name and why it skipped Note 6.

It said," First and foremost though, you might be curious as to why it's called Galaxy Note7 instead of Galaxy Note 6. There are a couple reasons why. First, the Galaxy Note7 will complement our Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and unify our product portfolio. Second, the Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone."

With regards to the specs, the Samsung Galaxy Note7 is a beast. It is speculated to come with the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with either 4 =GB or 6GB of RAM. Its display screen is said have a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED with 2560 x 1440 screen resolution, producing 518ppi pixel density. It reportedly has 64GB internal storage, expandable via an microSD card. The snappers will be 12MP main and 5 MP front, and will also come with an IP68 certification, based on several reports.

It is also speculated to be featuring UFS 2.0 (Universal Flash Storage), which is an ultra-fast embedded memory, and reportedly to be 2.7 times faster. It also consumes less power, around 50 percent, compared to the eMMC 5.0, common on many smartphones.

Sam Mobile mentioned that the phone will arrive in three colors, blue, gold, and silver, and will also arrive with a USB Type-C port, replacing the older micro USB.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 will be launched on Aug. 2 at 11 a.m. EDT in New York. A simultaneous event will also happen in Rio de Janiero at noon and London at 4 p.m.
