Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date, specs, and features roundup

One of the most anticipated device launches for this year is the next installment in the hugely popular Galaxy Note lineup of Samsung. Already on its fifth model in the series, the expectations involving the upcoming Note 5 are increasing as the reported release date draws closer.

The latest rumors that are making their rounds online are the leaked images from French site Nowhereelse.fr. If the leaked images show what the Note 5 looks like, then Samsung has veered away from the design features that made the Note series stand out, and instead made changes in the upcoming phone's aesthetics to bring it much closer to the company's current flagship, the Galaxy S6. The upcoming Note 5 leaked images show a glass back, an aluminum frame, a newer fingerprint sensor, bottom edge speakers, and the stand-out angles of the camera setup at the back, similar to the S6.

However, much as the S6 series prides itself on its premium design, the upcoming Note 5 will have its high-spec insides as part of its premium features. The new Note will reportedly come with a larger 5.9-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display and a thinner 7.9 mm frame, which would be possible because of the new Note's use of USB Type-C connectivity. The Note 5 will also come with a new Exynos chipset. To address the need for a larger power capacity upgrade, which would otherwise not be possible because of the glass back, the upcoming Note 5 will supposedly come with a non-removable 4100 mAh battery.

Samsung still has to officially announce the details of the upcoming Note 5, and settle the rumors and supposedly leaked information floating around. Many observers expect confirmation about the specifications and design when it is unveiled in September, at the upcoming IFA event in Berlin.
