Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Note 5 specs comparison: Noteworthy plus and minuses

Samsung has just unveiled its newest addition to its flagship lineup, the Galaxy Note 5. With its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 4, still being considered as an active flagship product, how does the new iteration compare against its predecessor?

Design and display

Design-wise, industry follower Android Pit hailed the Note 5's design, as it was made to be slimmer and lighter than the Note 4. Although the new Note iteration has done away with the Note 4's faux leather back, the new Note still feels and looks like a premium, high-end device, since the body design is a combination of glass and metal chassis. In addition, Samsung's decision to alter the S Pen compartment complements the Note 5. Unlike the previous Note where owners have to manually pull out the S Pen, Note 5 users can just press the nub and the pen ejects automatically.

Display-wise, both Notes have the same 5.7-inch QHD display. Although there is little difference in terms of pixel density (the Note 4 has 515 ppi, as opposed to the new Note's 515 ppi), the Note 5 displays clearer and more crisp colors than its predecessors owing to the newer tech integrated in the recently-released device.

Meanwhile, one of the advantages that the older Note 4 has over the recent release is that it has removable battery and expandable storage, much-needed features that are sadly absent from the Note 5.

Under the hood

According to Trusted Reviews, the Note 5 has the advantage of being a recent release. While the Note 4 has a more-than-capable quad-core Snapdragon 810 processor, it is leagues away from the more-recent Exynos 7420 present in the Note 5. Chipsets and architecture-wise, the newer processor, together with the GPU, exceed performance and speed levels when compared against the Note 5's predecessor.

The memory also got an upgrade, with a massive 4 GB of RAM for the Note 5, as opposed to the 3-GB memory integrated in the Note 4.
