Maura (Sasha Alexander) and Jane (Angie Harmon) will investigate a case involving a woman and a deadly game in the upcoming episode of "Rizzoli & Isles" season 6.

In "Scared to Death," TV Guide reports that the detectives of the Boston Police Department will be mystified to find a crime scene unlike anything they have seen for years. A woman is found murdered in a place quite similar to the set of a horror film. Upon investigation, Jane and her team will find out that the victim was playing "a chilling game" prior to her death. Apparently, its participants will experience "sheer terror" while playing. Just like what the title suggest, did the victim die out of absolute fright?

Meanwhile, fans cannot help but express their disappointment over the cancellation of season 8 of the series based on Tess Gerritsen's novels. Turner Entertainment chief creative officer Kevin Reilly announced in January during the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena that season 7 would only have 13 episodes and that it would be the last installment.

According to him, the series had a good run and that everyone felt it's time to end while the ratings were still good. Many were surprised that the show was axed when it was doing great ever since it aired in 2010. Executive producer Jan Nash shared in a recent interview that even though they were expecting the cancellation, hearing it during the press con still came as a shock. He said that the entire cast and crew learned about the news "the same time everybody else did."

"We certainly had an inkling when they ordered 13 episodes rather than the usual 16 or 18. We figured that might be the way this would play out. We designed Season 7 so that it could act as a series finale or just B story lines that we pull back on at the end to have them continue on. But I think with where we left off and what we already had planned work in our favor going into the final season," Nash said.

"Rizzoli and Isles" season 6 airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
