'Rick and Morty' season 3 release date: New season rumored to premiere in late 2016

  Adult Swim

After the end of the second season of "Rick and Morty" on Adult Swim, a lot of fans are hyped up more than ever by the prospect of its third season. Unfortunately, the people behind the show have yet to announce its premiere date. But that doesn't mean that production has stopped -- on the contrary, some reports suggest that the production is still ongoing, and that the season might even be released later in the year.

According to MNR Daily, the team behind the production of "Rick and Morty" season 3 has been reported to be hard-pressed in working for new episodes. They even take some peculiar measures when it comes to staying entertained, since Dan Harmon, Justin Roiland and the rest of the creative team have been updating their show's official Twitter account with "Rick and Morty" memes, much to the amusement of fans as well.

As for the plot points of the newest season for this show, a lot of online speculations point out that the two protagonists might face the Galactic Federation yet again. Thus, due to this purported issue, a lot of the show's fans believe that the end result for this is that Rick and Morty will be forced to move out of Planet Earth and just settle on far-off planet not under the rule of this giant federation.

Meanwhile, fans who want to get their hands on a physical copy of the second season of "Rick and Morty" can now pre-order a copy from online retailers such as Amazon. The DVD version for this copy is priced at $19.99, while its Blu-ray counterpart will cost a bit more, at $24.99. Both of these copies will be shipped by June 7.
