Resident Evil 7 release date news: Gameplay demo to be showcased in Tokyo Game Show 2016

 Capcom

Capcom will be showcasing a playable demo of Resident Evil 7 at the Tokyo Game Show this month.

Prior to the reveal, Capcom also shared images of playable characters for the upcoming game including a blonde woman, a man with a clean cut and another long haired guy, Yibada reported.

Based on a leaked game description, the story will revolve around the character named Ethan, whose quest involves searching for his missing wife in an abandoned mansion.

The character will have at his disposal weapons like handguns, shotguns, explosives, flamethrowers and chainsaws which he will use to battle mutant beings inside the house.

According to game producer Masachika Kawata, the game will still maintain the combat feature but this will be slightly  scaled back compared to its predecessors.

During the E3, Capcom released the gameplay trailer that showcased a found footage type video of Marguerite from the Beginning Hour Demo. The trailer received a general consensus that it was scary and creepy.

Game reviewer Alex Donaldson of VG24/7 posted: "Gameplay framed as found footage is in all a pretty clever idea, twisting a horror movie sub-genre that really became popularised after Resident Evil's rise to its purposes."

He further said that while the goal of the game is not to get caught, he didn't mind so much when he failed in the mission because it was a fascinating experience.

For PS Plus members who want to sample the game before its release next year, the Beginning Hour demo is now available.

The Beginning Hour which functions as an opening to the actual game is set Dulvey, Louisiana, where a mystery surrounds the disappearance of Jack or Marguerite Baker.

The start of the demo opens with the tagline "Meet the Family." The demo gives players an idea of what happened to Jack Baker.

"Resident Evil 7will be launched on Jan. 14, 2017 for the PS4, PS VR, Xbox One and PC platforms.
