'Red Dead Redemption 2' Release date news: New trailer canceled, rumored release this fall

Red Dead Redemption Rockstar Games

While there have been several fans who are eagerly anticipating Take-Two Interactive's update on the new "Red Dead Redemption" sequel, it looks like they might just have to wait a bit longer. According to Ecumenical News, the expected trailer and reveal at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has been reportedly canceled. Several rumors speculate that this is due to the Orlando Shooting that recently occured last June 12. Even though it was not there, CrossMap reports that Feinstein reassured people that they are indeed working on the new sequel to the franchise.

However, according to other rumors, it appears like Rockstar has been working on this game for a few years now. The working title for the upcoming sequel is supposedly "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West." The setting was rumored to be set for some time 12 years before the first "Red Dead Redemption" game. The player will have access to three main characters: Irish, Seth and a customizable character. Since this game has been in development for quite some time now, other speculations assume the game's release to be around October of this year.

On the other hand, Rockstar's CEO, Strauss Zelnick did announce that they only launch one franchise per year. He also assured fans that "Red Dead Redemption" is definitely a permanent franchise for the company. According to University Herald, Sony also never planned any kind of release or teaser for this game during the E3 event, and that all the rumors about this was fan made. Adam Boyes, vice president for Third Party Relations and Developer Technology Group at the PlayStation company, announce that "The length and content we showed has been locked and unchanged for months."

There is still hope for this game's release, since they don't actually need the media coverage from E3 to announce "Red Dead Redemption 2". The franchise has enough of a fanbase for them to sell even without a big teaser months before their big release.
