'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news: Game unconfirmed; fans are still expecting an early 2017 release

The hype for the sequel of the "Red Dead Redemption" game is still palpable, and the release of a fake poster just last week proves that fans are willing to stir up some rumors in order to make its developer — Rockstar Games — finally give some updates on the much-awaited sequel.

According to the Parent Herald, the past months have brought about a stream of unstoppable speculations about the possible release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" within this year, or at least just a confirmed announcement that the game is already under development. After all, Rockstar Games has been pretty tight-lipped about the details of the game, let alone a confirmation, but fans still kept their faith and waited for the sweet announcement in various major gaming events all throughout the year.

Unfortunately, fans were left with disappointment when the game was not revealed at the E3 2016 event, as well as the Gamescom Expo, which occurred in June and August, respectively. Furthermore, the disappointed was compounded by the fact that Rockstar did not attend the Sept.7 Sony Playstation Meeting event.

Regardless of the prevalent uncertainties surrounding the second "Red Dead Redemption" game, die-hard fans are still hoping for its eventual release. Fans wait with bated breath  since Take-Two Interactive — the parent company of Rockstar Games — said that they still have plans to release a new title for the franchise, but are not in a hurry to do so despite the incessant requests from fans throughout the years.

Game N Guide further explained that a massive hit such as "Red Dead Redemption" will certainly have a sequel planned along the line. Even Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick said that this franchise is permanent, but he does not want to risk releasing games that are not wanted by players, so it is possible that the company will focus on quality first instead of just releasing title after title.
