Many fans have been looking forward to the launch of the second installment of the popular open-world game "Red Dead Redemption" to come out, but are disappointed with the recent announcement that the sequel's release has been delayed to 2018.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" was originally slated to come out in fall of 2017. However, game developer Rockstar Games recently came out with an announcement stating that they are delaying the game's release to spring 2018. The company wanted to ensure that they could give the best gaming experience possible, which is why they are taking their time in developing the game.

"This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans," the statement from Rockstar read.

The announcement did not come as a surprise as it may be noted that Rockstar Games has a track record of delaying game releases, just like what it did to "Grand Theft Auto 5" in 2013. The game's launch was even pushed back twice. Because of this, there is a possibility that even the recently confirmed release date of "Red Dead Redemption 2" is not yet final.

Rockstar Games also mentioned in the statement that they are excited to reveal more details about the game in the coming months. The game developer might be referring to Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which will be held from June 13 to 15. However, Rockstar Games is not known to make E3 appearances.

To make up for the disappointment caused by the announcement of the delay in releasing "Read Dead Redemption 2," Rockstar shared a couple of screenshots from the upcoming game.

More details about the game should surface in the coming months.
