The Phoenix Suns recently fired Jeff Hornacek as their head coach with the team going 14–35 this season, and Steve Nash was considered for the job, although he reportedly does not want to coach full-time.

Hornacek became the head coach of Phoenix in May 2013, but in his first two seasons failed to guide the team to the playoffs.

This season is Hornacek's third year with the Suns, but an opportunity to redeem himself was cut short on Monday when he was sacked, with the team likely to again miss the playoffs.

According to ESPN, the Suns were interested in Nash to replace Hornacek, but sources said coaching is not something the retired point guard wants to do as of the moment.

Nash played eight seasons for the Suns and even helped the team reach as far as the Western Conference Finals in 2010.

The 41-year-old is currently a consultant for the defending National Basketball Association (NBA) champions the Golden State Warriors.

But even the Warriors had a hard time trying to make him accept the job, and he was needed to be convinced by close friends in the Warriors' staff including head coach Steve Kerr.

Since Nash is not available, the Suns already found an interim head coach in former player and assistant coach Earl Watson, according to Yahoo Sports.

Watson's head coaching debut takes place today, Tuesday, when Phoenix hopes to end a four-game losing streak hosting the Toronto Raptors, who are the second best team in the Eastern Conference.

The record of the Suns places them 13th in the Western Conference standings, just above the Minnesota Timberwolves whom they are tied with, and the Los Angeles Lakers (9–41).

Phoenix's last playoff appearance was in the 2009–10 season when they made it to the conference finals but were taken down by the Lakers.
