'Percy Jackson 3' updates: Should the film adaptation be animated instead?

It has been almost two years since the second installment in the "Percy Jackson" film franchise was released, but 1492 Pictures and 20th Century Fox are still silent about the possibility of bringing "Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse" to the big screen.

In March last year, lead actor Logan Lerman claimed that a third film for the franchise based on Rick Riordan's bestselling "Percy Jackson & the Olympians" novels could still push through since he had signed a three-film contract.

He also clarified the earlier reports saying that he confirmed that the third film was already scrapped, saying: "I said I don't know, I've never heard anything and it's been a while since the second one was released, so I just haven't heard anything about a third film. Unless they call me I think it's unlikely."

But still, the film studio has yet to announce if the third film will indeed push through.

Meanwhile, Hypable published a report last month suggesting that the "Percy Jackson" series could do better if they were done in animation. According to the report, fans would still want to see the demigod's adventures on the big screen, but it would be quite impossible now if the original cast will be used since the actors have aged over the years and the film failed to generate significant earnings in the box office.

The article also enumerated how the animation could work better for the film franchise, saying that it could provide more attention to detail, more opportunities to work on the realistic effects of the otherworldly characters, as well as better representation of the gods in the books. Bringing the "Percy Jackson" series in animation could also widen its target audience since most movie goers can enjoy the genre.

But until the status of the film adaptation of "Percy Jackson 3" is officially announced, fans can still keep on hoping that the story would make it to theaters.
