Rebecca McBrain, Meadow Walker devastated by father's death; Actor's cause of crash under investigation

"The boys are back. Will you be ready?" Paul Walker tweeted this photo just a day before his fatal car crash. Twitter

Paul Walker tragically passed away in a terrible car accident on Saturday, leaving behind his 15-year-old daughter Meadow Rain Walker.

Rebecca McBrain is the mother of Paul Walker's daughter Meadow, who dated the Fast and the Furious star in 1998. She gave birth to their child later that year, but their relationship had ended soon after.

Walker was 25 when Meadow was born. In the past, he had spoken about having had his daughter at his age. "I'm grateful I had her (daughter) at 25 and not 20 because, at 40 and 15, we're matching up sweet! She's been with her mom her whole life and she wants a relationship with her pops. It's working out really well right now."

Meadow grew up in Hawaii with her mother but moved to LA in 2011 to be closer to her father.

McBrain is reportedly devastated with the loss of her daughter's father. A source told the ShowbizSpy: "Rebecca is being there for her daughter, who is naturally devastated. She and Paul had some good times together. She too is upset by his death."

The car crashed took place at about 3:30pm in Santa Clarita, California, on Nov. 30. The accident happened when Walker and his friend Roger Rodas took a Porsche out for a drive near a charity event they had been attending in support of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The police released a statement upon arriving at the car accident scene. "When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene."

TMZ reports that the Porsche may have malfunctioned with a steering fluid leak.

Sources connected to a shop co-owned by both Walker and Rodas say they saw evidence of a fluid burst before the skid marks at the accident scene. The source says the absence of skid marks may mean that the driver didn't have steering control. They also believe that the fluid leak may indeed be a possibility because the fire spread quickly to the front of the car rather than the rear.

Officials who are currently investigaing the cause of crash also say speed may have also been a factor.
