OnePlus 2 news: Open sales announced for Oct. 12

OnePlus has been notorious for making it hard on folks to get the device, although they have somehow tweaked that a bit since getting hold of the OnePlus 2 will no longer be by invite only.

OnePlus will be offering the OnePlus 2 this Oct. 12 in varying time zones, but the catch is that aspiring buyers will only have one hour to transact. It should also be noted that each buyer will be limited to just two phones per order.

So for the hoarders who intend to buy and then sell them again, you will have to place multiple orders to do so. Just pray that the site where you are getting it from doesn't lag or eventually break down with the high traffic expected once the online store concerned opens.

"On Monday, October 12, we are holding the first-ever OnePlus 2 open sales for one hour in four different time zones. This way, more fans around the world will get the best time possible to purchase the OnePlus 2 invite-free," OnePlus announced.

Sales for the device will begin in Asia from 12:00-13:00 HKT, Europe from 12:00-13:00 CEST, and North America from 12:00-1:00pm PDT. For the ones in India, the phone will be available from Amazon India starting from 12:00-1:00pm IST.

Would this be a better approach considering that previous customers have found it pretty hard to get hold of the said device?

Despite the approach, the odd marketing strategy for the highly touted OnePlus devices have somehow reaped dividends. The Invite-Only scheme has made the device somewhat hard to get, even reaching a point of making it a business of sorts for the ones who are lucky enough to get a piece.

It remains to be seen how the one-hour window will turn out but just the same, expect a mad rush from folks who have been impressed with what the OnePlus 2 has to offer.
