Graphics card manufacturing giant NVIDIA is about to release a mid-range GPU dubbed the GTX 1050. Not everyone was aware of it until Benchlife stumbled upon a CPU-Z posting, which showed a few interesting details of the card. The still-unannounced GPU will contain 768 CUDA cores, with 1316 MHz base clock.
The NVIDIA GTX 1050 Pascal-based is speculated to be the successor of the GTX 950 Maxwell-based card. It contains a GP107 graphics core, 48TMUs and 32 ROPs. The boosted clock shows 1380 MHz and a 128-bit bus. Neowin added that the card will be offered with 2GB or 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM, but the captured images show a 4GB configuration.
It is also speculated to be requiring very minimal power, which hopefully would not require any additional power connectors. With the configuration mentioned, the card is expected to entice PC users who are not into heavy gaming, but would like to have a dedicated video card rather than use the built-in ones.
Nothing is specified if the GPU model will also receive a reference and founder's edition, nor if there will be custom cards coming from OEM partners.
Meanwhile, NVIDIA has officially released a "Fallout 4" mod of the highest quality, called Vault 1080. The mod gives the Wasteland a more sinister look. It uses volumetric lighting features to the max that makes it nearer to reality. Players can perceive depth when the light source is blocked, which makes the tunnels more eerie and makes the experience with other players more dangerously fun.
"Think the end of the world can't get any worse? Then NVIDIA's high-quality Fallout 4 mod has some bad news – turns out that adding super-advanced lighting and shadows to a thermonuclear Wasteland just makes it scarier, moodier and more dangerous than ever," the company stated on its site.
The mod is designed to work perfectly with the GTX 1080 and can be downloaded straight from Bethesda.
NVIDIA is expected to announce the GTX 1050 by October and is expected to be priced around US$150.
