NFL trade rumors: Keenan Lewis released by Saints; Jets, Cardinals, Lions and Steelers interested in signing CB

The New Orleans Saints has released veteran comerback Keenan Lewis which effectively frees up $2.75 million from their salary cap.

Despite rumors that Keenan did not get along with defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, there seems to be no ill feelings between the management and the player as Keenan, who has been with the team for four of his five-year contract, thanked his teammates and the fans through his Instagram account.

"I would like to thank New Orleans and all my fans. It's been and awesome journey. I'm glad I had the opportunity to play for the city I grew up in and love. Thank you and see y'all soon hope y'all still cheer for me," he said.

It seems that it won't take long for the veteran CB to find a new home as some teams have reportedly been making inquiries regarding the free agent.

Among the teams that are interested in acquiring the CB are the Lions, the Jets and the Cardinals, reported NFL Rumors.

The Steelers are also planning to have Keenan take a physical exam during his visit to evaluate whether his hip is in good enough shape for them to sign him, according to sources.

"I wouldn't mind playing with (Darrelle) Revis. Bruce Arians was also coaching with the Steelers when I was there. I wouldn't mind playing with Patrick Peterson too. Those teams are only getting stronger. I just want to put myself in the best situation. I want to play two to three more years and my goal is to win a Super Bowl," Keenan said to ESPN.

It can be recalled that Keenan has previously played with the Steelers, spending four years with the team before he moved to the Saints in 2013.

The Steelers are hoping to reinforce their secondaries for this season, reported NFL.
