Moto X and Nexus 6 are both Motorola phones. While Moto X is great enough to be called by many as "the best smartphone ever," its peer, the Nexus 6, may just be the one to snag the title. While the two are noticeably similar in many ways, existing key differences between the two will determine the real winner.
Almost like a small tablet, the Nexus 6 boasts a 5.9-inch Quad HD display with 2560 x 1440 screen resolution. It has left behind Moto X which has a 5.2-inch AMOLED display at 1920 x 1080. The former should be expected of more detailed display, as its pixels per inch is at 493, several notches better than Moto X's 423.
Nexus 6 goes further ahead with its processor. While Moto X sports a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, Nexus 6 is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805. Its system clock is at 2.7 GHz, with 3 GB of RAM which promises seamless opening and loading of apps more than Moto X's 2.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. It is also important to note that Nexus 6 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop while Moto X uses Android 4.4 KitKat. However, Moto X will receive the update, too, as Google promised.
The 13 MP rear camera and the 2 MP front shooter are two Moto X features carried over to Nexus 6. The small difference lies in Moto X's dual LED Ring Flash, HDR, UHD 4K video capture and 4x digital zoom. However, IBTimes has remarked that issues about image capabilities in the Moto X exist. Also, Nexus 6 is made unique with its front-facing stereo speakers.
In terms of battery life, Moto X uses a 2300 mAh battery. Nexus 6, on the other hand, has a 3200 mAh battery, which means that one can use the device for a whole day. Both are integrated with Motorola's fast charging technology — 6 hours in 15 minutes of charging but only Nexus 6 can be charged wirelessly.
The Nexus 6 is available in 32 GB and 64 GB capacity with Midnight Blue and Cloud White color options. Moto X offers the same storage capacity but with available Black and White color options. Nexus 6 buyers are in for a $649 shell out for the 32 GB version. For the 64 GB version, an extra $50 is required. Moto X is more pocket-friendly as it is offered with a $586 price tag for the 32 GB version and $535 for the 16 GB model.
Overall, both are two great Android phones. For users who like definitive display on a big screen, Nexus 6 awaits. But Moto X's AMOLED display is not to be discounted.
