Nexus 5 2015 release date with new Google Android M OS?

With the upcoming Android M already confirmed at this year's annual Google I/O Conference, most tech observers note that Google might also be planning to launch the new platform together with a new flagship device, and the rumored 2015 edition of the Nexus 5 seems to be one of the top candidates for that launch.

Since it is speculated that a consumer release for Android M would happen in the middle of the year, this places it in close proximity to the rumored release date of the second-gen Nexus 5, reportedly coming in either October or November. Google is said to be planning to release the 2015 Nexus 5 in the latter part of the year to pay homage to the Nexus 6 turning a year old, and also to time it as close as possible to the holiday rush.

In addition to the Android M rumors, leaks and insiders say that Google will be coming out with two Nexus devices this year, with tech manufacturers LG and Huawei spearheading the said projects. It is said that to prevent detailed leaks from coming out, Google had the two devices known only by their codenames "Huawei Angler" and "LG Bullhead."

Judging by previous Nexus flagship releases, it is expected that the next Nexus devices will follow the same recipe — high-ends specs with middle-range prices. The new Nexus 5 is reported to sport a 5.2-inch True HD display with 1080p resolution, slightly larger than its predecessor. Moreover, the upcoming second-gen will also have an upgraded Snapdragon 808 chipset, a 3 GB RAM, and will come in 32 GB and 64 GB storage versions.

Meanwhile, in addition to rumors of new Nexus devices already carrying Android M right out of the box, it is also reported that some older versions on the Nexus lineup will not be included in the Android M update and will stop their upgraded platforms at Android Lollipop 5.1.1.
