'GTA V Online' DLC release news: 'Independence Day' or 'Ill-Gotten Gains Part 2' coming soon?

Grand Theft Auto V Rockstar

With the recent release of a new "Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1" DLC, "Grand Theft Auto Online" now has a new batch of high-end vehicles, weapons, and accessories. Players can now collect and enjoy the Enus Windsor; Buckingham Swift Deluxe and Buckingham Luxor Deluxe; Albany Virgo; Benefactor Stirling GT; and the Pegassi Osiris.

Since it is understood that the most recent update is only the first part, there would still be a second part to the expansion, and the only thing still unconfirmed is the release date. However, new speculations about a different expansion surfaced, placing new content to be released as an "Independence Day" DLC instead.

According to the rumor mill, if developer Rockstar Games would be inclined to repeat what it did last year, it will probably release an Independence Day-themed expansion pack. The first "Independence Day" DLC was released around this time last year. The expansion introduced the sovereign monster truck and a number of new weapons for "GTA V Online."

This development drew mixed reactions from hardcore "GTA V" players, with most of them saying that they prefer the second part of the "Ill-gotten Gains" DLC to be released. One user had even commented that, based on previous occasions, Rockstar Games has not recreated any expansion pack aside from a Christmas-themed one.

Meanwhile, players of the recent title in the long-running open-world exploration RPG franchise have been speculating on what new content the next expansion update will bring. According to the supposed online leaks, the new expansion will bring two new heists to the game called Drug Flip and FLEECA Money Back Guarantee. In addition, the new update might unlock customization options to the new vehicle additions.

As for the release date, Rockstar Games has been vague on when the new expansion will arrive, other than saying that it will be sometime in summer.
