New York Knicks trade rumors 2016: Carmelo Anthony joining LeBron James in Cleveland soon?

The New York Knicks are open to anything and that includes possibly dealing Carmelo Anthony in a trade. This is with the understanding that Anthony warrants it, of course, due to a no-trade clause stipulated on his contract.

According to the Daily News, there is a brewing trade that would involve the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Per the report, the deal will see Anthony ending up with the Cavs, Kevin Love likely in Boston, and Timofey Mozgov moving back to the Knicks along with some first round draft picks (likely owned by the Celtics).

The alleged deal has yet to progress, although it does give Anthony the chance to finally play alongside his friend in Cleveland. All that could change after the National Basketball Association (NBA) All-Star weekend where Anthony will be with James.

The Knicks could be open to the possibility, as Phil Jackson looks to upgrade his lineup. Even though landing Mozgov isn't exactly seen as a major upgrade, it could be a move seen as long-term.

If it does materialize, expect Knick fans to belt out criticism once again. It may not be that different from the recent 2015 NBA Draft where fans were initially unhappy with the selection of Kristaps Porzingis who turned out to be a steal of the crop.

For Love, it could be something that would work to his advantage. He has tried but struggled to make ends meet to co-exist with James and Kyrie Irving, so dealing him will not be that surprising.

The Cavs denied previous Kevin Love rumors but like any player, all that changes with the right deal. Anthony is certainly someone who can alter that despite the fact that he is hampered by injuries.

Mozgov could get a new lease on life with the Knicks after a not-so-good season. After coming up big in the playoffs, the Russian has not exactly been impressive as of late.
