New Orleans Pelicans roster news: Anthony Davis frustrated with team's current showing

The New Orleans Pelicans were the big surprise last season after making the post season, many believing that it would be the start of something big.

And that was the understanding this season. With a future National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Famer in Anthony Davis, all the Pelicans need to do is to pick up from where they left off and come together. Right now, that just isn't the case.

The Pelicans are slumping and are now just half a game ahead of the struggling Los Angeles Lakers with a 4–15 mark. And try as he might, Davis simply cannot do it all by his lonesome.

The excuse of most players in sick bay is slowly fading away, although it may take some time for the likes of Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole to get their groove back. Hence, does it all fall on the broad shoulders of Davis?

Apparently, such is showing since there is no one technically capable of picking up at this point. But for Davis, it is not about trying to make excuses but making things work. And on that note, he is hinting that the bench will have to step up in lieu of their wounded teammates.

But the question is who? Well, that job falls in the hands of head coach Alvin Gentry who brought high hopes to the franchise but has unfortunately not happened.

It does not, however, follow that Gentry is a bad coach. The fact is with close to no resources to work on, Gentry will need to improvise and dig deep for solutions.

"It can't be done by one guy. I don't know of a team in the league that's been able to do that. Even the great ones, have other guys who contribute and do things that help you win this game," says Gentry on the woes of the Pelicans via CBS Sports.
