Prepare for some light and funny moments when NCIS returns for its 14th season. Fans of the show will be happy to know that after plenty of tear-jerking moments last season owing to farewells and goodbyes to Cote de Pablo's character Agent Ziva and the departure of Michael Weatherly — who portrayed Agent Tony DiNozzo in the show for thirteen seasons — several episodes in the upcoming season will feature light-hearted moments.

Among the heart-pounding events that took place last season was Fornell's life being in danger after he was shot at Gibbs' house. This time around, Gibbs will be helping Forell through his recovery period by being his roommate.

"Fornell is living with Gibbs as he's recuperating [from his wounds]. Be prepared, because it's some wonderful, light, funny stuff," showrunner Gary Glasberg teased.

While the show welcomes new cast members like Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito as new additions to Gibbs' team, DiNozzo will also come back in one of season 14's episodes. While Weatherly is busy helming his own show Bull — which will also air on CBS — actor Robert Wagner, who plays DiNozzo's dad, will return for the second episode of the season. It can be recalled that Wagner originally appeared on the show in season 7. Father and son were not in good terms but in Dinozzo Sr.'s subsequent appearances, he proved that his son could always count on him.

According to Movie News Guide, the episode will revolve around a death at a reunion in Quantico, a bombing attempt, and a long-running theft ring. As to where DiNozzo's dad will figure into this, his appearance will definitely involve some fun with the NCIS team.

Meanwhile, episode 1 — which will air on Sept. 20 —  is expected to introduce the character of Valderrama as Agent Nick Torres, an NCIS agent who reappears after six months deep undercover.
