Chicago Bulls trade rumors 2016: Derrick Rose leaving for New York Knicks; Butler-Wiggins trade in the works?

The Chicago Bulls has finally traded superstar Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks and while it was an emotional departure for Chicago native, it was reported that he was still happy that it was to the Knicks.

According to a report by ESPN, sources close to Rose said that as soon he found out that he was being considered for a trade, his first choice was to New York.

"His first choice was New York. He wants the spotlight," the source said.

In exchange for Rose, Justin Holiday and a second round pick, the Knicks will send Robin Lopez, Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant to beef up Chicago's roster.

With Rose headed to the Big Apple, Chicago is reportedly looking to build a team around Jimmy Butler, who was named the 2014-2015 season's Most Improved Player.

However, the Timberwolves are reportedly keen on giving up their 5th pick overall to get their hands on Butler, who Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau, who coached Butler in Chicago has his heart set on, Hofmag reported.

Minnesota is reportedly looking for someone who will lead the team, who is familiar with Thiboeau's coaching style.

Butler averages 20.9 points per game, 5.3 rebounds and 4.8 dimes for the Bulls but this alone was not enough to get them to the playoffs of the Eastern Conference.

In exchange for Butler, the Timberwolves are willing to trade Andrew Wiggins, whom the Lakers and the Celtics are also reportedly eyeing as well.

The young talent averaged 20.7 points last season and has a smaller contract compared to Butler's more than $90 million 5-year contract.

The Bulls are not even considering a trade with Minnesota if Wiggins is not thrown into the package, according to NESN.com.

Chicago is still not making any final decisions on Butler just yet as it has been reported that they are still listening for pitches for the young All Star guard.
