NBA trade rumors 2016: Rajon Rondo will not fit into the New York Knicks' triangle system

Rajon Rondo is a guard whom the New York Knicks could use in the offseason, with the veteran point guard expected to be among the available players in the offseason.

Rondo has tons of experience and could fill in the void the Knicks need. However, the NBA veteran told reporters last Friday that he is not too thrilled to run the vaunted "triangle offense" that Phil Jackson wants the club to run.

With that said, Rondo practically shut the door on the Knicks as a possible destination in case he does bolt the Sacramento Kings.

The 29-year-old guard who played most of his career in Boston may not be too fond of how it works. For one, he is the guy who wants to make things happen his way. He thrives on making his teammates look good, a reason why he is leading the league in assists as of report writing with 11.8 per game, according to ESPN.

The triangle offense is pick-and-roll heavy, which means Rondo's play of normally holding the ball and making things already indicates that he will not work well in it. Based on how he spoke about it, it doesn't look like Rondo has plans of wanting to learn it as well.

With Rondo out, the Knicks will have to look elsewhere. There are guards likely to be available such as Mike Conley. Then there is Jeff Teague whose name seems to be up for consideration, although nothing has transpired for now.

Whatever the Knicks plan, it is pretty clear that they need a guard who can help run the triangle and do the things that José Calderón is missing.

Rondo could have been perfect for that "missing" part since Calderon does lack that knack for taking it hard to the basket. Too bad he wasn't willing to adjust and learn the triangle since it would have solved the Knicks' personnel requirement.
