NBA trade rumors 2016: Orlando Magic also in pursuit of Blake Griffin

The Orlando Magic are one of the teams making a frantic run before the National Basketball Association (NBA) trade deadline and their latest interest is reportedly Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Even though the Clippers are believed to be not seriously placing the All-Star forward on the trading block, the Clippers are inquiring just the same.

Griffin's name has been another big name in the trade rumor mill following that fracas that involved him and the team's equipment manager last month.

The Magic are reportedly keen on pulling off a big deal before next week and are also looking at other big name players such as Jeff Teague and Al Horford of the Atlanta Hawks.

It may take something huge to pry Griffin from the Clippers, although the Magic have their share of budding young players that deserve a look.

In their list, players such as Victor Oladipo, Mario Hezonja, Aaron Gordon and Tobias Harris may have to go, although it depends on whether or not the Clippers or even the Hawks would be interested to make a deal happen.

Griffin has been placed in the hot seat, something that went awry after that punching incident. The whole thing only ended up placing him in cold storage even more and hurting the struggling Clippers as they are not performing in accordance with pre-tournament hype.

The Clippers have reiterated that they are keeping Griffin but just like anyone, that could change with an irresistible deal.

The Magic are currently toting a 23–29 win–loss card over at the Eastern Conference and are not in the top eight.

A trade could help boost their chances as they jostle with the Washington Wizards (23–28) and the New York Knicks (23–32) for the upper hand.

Other than that, the Magic need to string up some victories to try and snag a postseason berth and catch up with the tail-enders like the Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons, and the Chicago Bulls.
