NBA trade rumors 2016: Clippers and Cavs to exchange star point guards?

It is a little surprising that Los Angeles Clippers All-Star point guard Chris Paul is being dragged to trade rumors despite the team faring well this season, and one potential deal is a blockbuster switch involving the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Inquisitr reported that the next trade activity that may happen is an exchange of All-Star caliber point guards, Paul heading to the Cavaliers, while Kyrie Irving joins Lob City.

Paul is playing splendidly, but recently is involved in trade talks because the Clippers are not looking like championship contenders, especially in the Western Conference, a conference ruled by the defending champions Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs.

In 39 games played and started for Los Angeles this season, Paul is averaging 18.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 9.7 assists, and 2.1 steals in 32.3 minutes of action per contest.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers' Irving is also performing great this season returning from an injury.

The 23-year-old point guard played in 17 games already since coming back, averaging 15.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 27.1 minutes of action per outing.

Irving's numbers may not be like his previous ones but that is understandable since he is just starting to find his groove after sitting out for almost half a year.

In The Inquisitr's report, the possible trade of Paul and Irving can benefit both teams in different ways.

If Paul joins the Cavaliers, he will complement the scoring of franchise star LeBron James and former All-Star big man Kevin Love since he is more of a pass-first point guard.

Unlike Irving, who is also a scorer, which gives the Cavs less ball movement once he is on the floor with James and Love, as they are all looking to score.

On the other hand, the Clippers can use an explosive scorer like Irving, who will also add youth to the roster and can be the face of the franchise in the long run.
