New York Knicks reportedly monitoring Brandon Jennings?

The New York Knicks haven't exactly gotten a big lift from the point guard position, although much of that has been overshadowed with the surprise package named Kristaps Porzingis.

The Latvian rookie has been the talk of the National Basketball Association (NBA) lately and together with Carmelo Anthony, the two have been making things work for head coach Derek Fisher.

But the obvious right now is that the Knicks will sooner or later need a point guard to help out the squad. Jose Calderon and Jerian Grant are around, but the Knicks can obviously do better if they could get their hands on one.

Even though there are a lot of point guards who may be available by February and the NBA offseason, the Knicks could be looking at their options right now. But the question is who?

Brandon Jennings could be available if he does finally debut this month. Jennings is coming of an Achilles tear injury and reports have it that multiple teams are keeping tabs on his progress to see if the 26-year-old guard can make a successful recovery from the said injury.

The Pistons could likely entertain trades seeing that they already have a point guard who has been doing well in Reggie Jackson. Though he has not been that consistent, the fact remains that he is healthy can improve given more time.

Jennings is in the last year of his $15 million contract with Detroit so it would make sense to see the Pistons trading him up for someone whom they could use.

Calderon plus perhaps Grant or a big man on their end could be tempting for the Pistons, although it remains to be seen who it could be on their end.

If Jennings will indeed move, it is likely to happen a few games after he officially makes his NBA return. A successful return could likely be short-lived, with the Knicks as one of the teams likely knocking on Detroit's door.
