Word about Markieff Morris wanting out from the Phoenix Suns was in the air as early as the offseason and now, that is once again up in the air.
Despite saying early in the season that he was happy in Phoenix, his performance and latest antics say otherwise. And head coach Jeff Hornacek is, apparently, aware of the situation.
In fact, he reasons that such was why he took Morris out of their game against the Denver Nuggets, a game that the Suns lost 84–75.
But the game was more about just losing, it was all about a celebrated towel-throwing incident which Morris claims wasn't meant to intentionally hit Hornacek via NBC Sports.
Morris claims that he was simply frustrated at the state of the Suns and later on apologized. But from the looks of it, Hornacek doesn't buy Morris' alibi.
Morris was eventually suspended for two games without pay, something that will cost him about $145,455. He will serve out the last day of his suspension on Dec. 28 when the Suns play the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Right now, it remains to be seen how the Suns and Morris will progress moving forward. The Suns could end up trading Morris, but it would mean adding other players on their rosters to get rid of him.
Morris was linked to several teams but nothing really materialized. That included a trade for Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans and another with the Houston Rockets that included Terence Jones.
Nothing materialized and it seems that for such to happen, there are other players the Suns must be willing to give up.
Right now, the situation seems to have swung in the favor of Phoenix. They don't have to worry about Morris' salary since they have salary cap room to take in other players.
But of course, that $24 million contract would be a waste if it weren't used on players who could help out their cause.
