NBA trade rumors 2015: Kevin Martin being shopped by the Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves could be moving Kevin Martin soon as the National Basketball Association vet has found himself displaced in the rotation of interim head coach Sam Mitchell.

In what started out as an experiment in the preseason, the T-Wolves seem to have found their new (and young) tandem in the backcourt with Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins normally plays forward but the transition to shooting guard seems to have worked well for Minnesota.

The 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year thus creates matchup problems for opposing teams which somehow eats up a lot of the playing time of Martin.

Martin hasn't exactly performed up to par. He is currently averaging 12.7 points compounded by bad shooting at 36.7 percent. Although he is not really a burden on the salary front, his $7 million deal could be put to good use on someone else, possibly someone who costs less.

There are reportedly about two teams interested in Martin. One could be the Sacramento Kings (via SB Nation) who are preparing for the probable departure of Caron Butler. Although a potential reunion with the Kings could be swell, his return doesn't seem to be something that would impact the fortunes of Sacramento.

While Martin has proven he can shoot in volumes, his defensive end hasn't exactly been something that has helped out the T-Wolves. And for that reason, Minnesota could be on the prowl for available players in the market who can do a bit of offense and defense that would probably cost at a minimum.

At 32, Martin has also had his share of injuries. Such has apparently slowed him down lately and could be a reason for the dip in his production.

It remains to be seen where Martin would end up but whichever team that may be, it will be surely one that is in need of a scorer.
