NBA All Stars 2016 rumors: Draymond Green could be starting for Western All Stars

Draymond Green continues to flourish this NBA season and all that hard work and excellent effort could reward him with a possible starting slot for the coming NBA All Star games, which will take place in Toronto on Feb. 14.

The Warriors forward finds himself at the third spot, roughly 1,300 votes ahead of San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard per ESPN. At the moment, the third spot seems to be the one being battled for with Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) and Kevin Durant (OKC Thunder) shoe-ins to start for the Western Conference all-stars.

Green has been making big strides lately, highlighted by three straight triple-double performances that have told largely on why the Warriors are off to a hot start this season.

Though that streak of triple-doubles ended against the Lakers, there is no denying that it has been an explosive year for the Warriors' forward.

And now, a spot in the Western Conference All Star squad could be another highlight of his career. But he knows that making it will not be up to him, but will be up to the fans.

And with that said, Green is just thankful for fans who have believed in him. The official starters will be announced on Jan. 21, where Green has a big chance of being included in the final list.

In detail, the 25-year-old Warriors forward has a total of 332,223 votes, while Leonard is not far behind with 330,929. Fifth is L.A. Clippers star Blake Griffin with 298,212.

If things go well, this would mark Green's first NBA All Star appearance.

With about two weeks to go, it will be interesting if any major movements would ensue as far as the all-star voting is concerned. Regardless, and even if Leonard dislodges Green for some reason, it seems pretty evident that Green should be in the Western Conference All Stars this year.
