It seems that the story behind the voiding of Luc Mbah A Moute's contract is not yet over as the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is planning to file a grievance against the Sacramento Kings sometime next week, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.
Last July 14, Mbah A Moute signed a one year, $1.5 million deal with the Kings. Two days later, however, Sacramento voided the contract, citing issues concerning the state of his right shoulder.
And while it seemed like a botched transaction at the time, Mbah A Moute is fighting back through the NBPA. Apparently, the player is armed with the necessary medical clearance which could somehow negate the claim of the Kings that the Cameroonian failed a physical assessment.
Even though it remains to be seen what comes out of it, the dispute could very well end up with Mbah A Moute not suiting up for the Kings even if he does win the grievance. It would have been a homecoming for the Mbah A Moute who played for Sacramento back in 2013.
The move is something that is seen to safeguard Mbah A Moute's intent to play for other ballclubs who may eventually be wary of signing the 28-year-old forward.
Mbah A Moute went back to the Philadelphia 76ers after the alleged failed physical examination. The Sixers acquired the 6-foot-9 basketball player in August 2014 as part of the blockbuster trade that saw the Philly landing him and Alexey Shved.
This was the same trade that saw Kevin Love going to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and Thaddeus Young joining the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Mbah A Moute was a starter in 61 out of the 67 games in which he played for the Sixers last season. He averaged 9.9 points per game, a career-best in Philly.
